Highway Construction Project Managers oversee all aspects of the building process, working closely with engineers and architects to develop plans, establish timetables, and determine labor and material costs. TMC Supervisor
TMC Supervisors act as an authorized representative of the permit holder with the sole job responsibility of Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS). Supervisors develop of temporary traffic and pedestrian control plans, which must address all aspects of the transportation system including pedestrian facilities and illustrate ADA compliance with all affected pedestrian facilities. Supervisors have due authority over all on-site employees, contractors and sub-contractors performing activities in the public right of way associated with this permitted project. Also, Supervisors must be on site during all hours of work where temporary traffic control is being utilized to direct traffic and/or when deliveries are being made to/from the job site. Finally, TMC Supervisors act as point of contact for all inspectors on all job sites associated with this permit for traffic/pedestrian control and hours of use of the right of way.
Project Manager (Transit)
A Transit Project Manager is responsible for the leadership and management of team in support of the project’s profitable operation as well as proactively managing the project’s technical budget (direct labor and expenses, including technical sub-consultants), schedule, technical requirements, contractual obligations, and project communications. Transit Project Managers actively manages project scope, schedule and budget, and serve as the primary client liaison to bring the schedule, budgets and scope of work to completion and to the client’s satisfaction. Also, Managers perform technical discipline tasks including research, reports, design, specification and plan preparation to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective execution of assigned projects. Transit Project Managers implement the firm’s project delivery plan using HNTB’s Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) on each project while developing project scope and fee quotation, and assists in the preparation of proposals and contracts. Finally, Transit Project Manager coordinates work efforts and reviews of work performed by project team, and supervises and mentors team to overall project objectives.
Maintenance Engineer, State DOT
Maintenance Engineers, State DOT, are a specialized branch of civil engineering. Maintenance engineers work in conjunction with urban planners and other engineers in traffic management and transportation to look after the state of our highways. Maintenance engineers, State DOT, have a responsibility for monitoring planning schemes, construction and repair work. Their work is both office-based and on-site on public highways. The standard working week is 37 hours but there will be weekend and evening work required as well. Special clothing such as hard hats, strong boots and visible clothing is provided. The engineer will always carry tools and equipment on site visits. In general, jobs in highway maintenance require not only oversight of the actual condition of the roads but a duty to promote good relations with members of the public, parish councils and consultants.
Materials Engineer
Materials Engineers plan and evaluate new projects, consulting with other engineers and managers, prepare proposals and budgets, analyze labor costs, write reports, and perform other managerial tasks. They also monitor how materials perform and evaluate how they deteriorate, determine the causes of product failure and develop ways of overcoming such failure, and evaluate technical specifications, economic factors relating to the design objectives of processes or products, and the impact of materials processing on the environment. Senior Bridge Engineer
Senior Bridge Engineers development and/or review roadway designs, utility plans, drainage reports, stormwater quality plans, performing bridge analysis and design computations, and other various related design elements associated with public transportation infrastructure and facilities. Senior Bridge Engineers may also participate in the review of engineering submittals associated with public and private improvements within the county for compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
