Highway Maintenance Worker
Highway Maintenance Workers are responsible for preparing broken and eroding pavement on highways, rural, and municipal roads. The position includes repairing runways, rights-of-way, broken roads on highway, town, and city roads, detached or dented guardrails, clearing debris from roads, patching potholes, filling road washouts, and cleaning storm drains. Maintenance Workers are also responsible for operating machinery to dig up holes and pouring and smoothing out concrete, setting up cones and signs to alert motorists, painting dividing lines between traffic lanes, laying asphalt, patrolling roads for hazards, snow/ice conditions, and maintenance/repair needs, placing stop signs and speed limit signs along roads, installing and cleaning culverts, and flagging traffic to form detours around construction.
Bridge Inspection Engineer
Bridge Inspection Engineers focus on the structural integrity of a bridge, checking for fractures in concrete, rust on metal supports and other problems that affect the overall condition of the bridge.
Project Engineer
Project Engineers plan, direct, and coordinate activities of designated projects to ensure that goals or objectives are accomplished within a prescribed time frame and budget parameters. Project engineers manage daily operations including the reviewing of project proposals or plans to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resource. They also confer with project staff to outline work plans and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scopes of authority.
Senior Bridge Engineer
Senior Bridge Engineers development and/or review roadway designs, utility plans, drainage reports, stormwater quality plans, performing bridge analysis and design computations, and other various related design elements associated with public transportation infrastructure and facilities. Senior Bridge Engineers may also participate in the review of engineering submittals associated with public and private improvements within the county for compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
Senior Project Engineer
Senior Project Engineers lead and manage structural design efforts of major highway, rail and movable bridge projects. Senior project engineers perform studies and special tasks such as vessel collision, pier protection, seismic, fatigue, emergency response, design build, waterfront and ferry facilities. They also provide supervision and mentoring of entry-level engineers as well as work collaboratively with other engineers on projects, clients, subconsultants, contractors, fabricators, and others to provide full range of services.
